Wednesday was a Bad Day
I should have known today was not going to be a good day. Yesterday, I got a phone call from my 26 year old son who works as a trucker and has for over a year. He said he was worried because he heard the company he works for was laying people off because of the economy. Three of his buddies had already been let go the day before, and he had a meeting on Wednesday. Since I am on my husband’s schedule of working nights, I usually don’t get up until 2 in the afternoon so I told him I would take my cell phone to bed with me and he could call me.
I got the phone call at 11am that he had been let go and I had to go get him up by Chicago which is about a two hour drive. Like I had time to do that, oh well. To make a long story short, I spent the whole day driving up there, driving him to his dad’s where he lives and then driving home. I didn’t get home until 7:30pm. My whole day was ruined.
The worst part is that now he is unemployed because of this stupid economy. He does have a CDL license which should make it a little easier to get a new job, but it is just the fact that this country is going downhill every day. Nobody is safe anymore from losing their job. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been with a company for a long time, you could still be let go. The moral of this story is, if you have a job, be happy.
