Published by charray7 under Health Edit This

Did you know that possibly the lettuce in your salad at supper might perhaps be a treatment for Type 1 diabetes? In only five years, a person with diabetes could take a capsule that contains lettuce that has been ground up with insulin one or two times a week for a couple of weeks and then be cured of diabetes and not ever have to inject insulin for the rest of their life.

Let me give you some background on the disease diabetes. Children and young adults are typically diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The disease does not allow the body to make insulin, which is required to change sugar, starches and other foods into energy.

How to Become Debt Free & Stay That Way

Published by charray7 under Life Edit This

 Debt

These days, with the economy being so bad and in trouble, more and more people are getting further in debt. Over the years, it has become so easy to apply and be approved for new credit cards and bank loans. The problem is that it is harder than ever to pay back those loans. Unfortunately, it is later rather than sooner that people realize the dangers of getting into debt. Debt has a way of sneaking up on us- a Home Equity loan, a few charges here and there on credit cards, a truck or personal auto loan, possibly even a consolidation loan. Each one of these things quickly adds up.

Decide for Yourself: Reborn Babies-Adorable or Eerie

Published by charray7 under Life Edit This

Reborn babies are swiftly gaining popularity and may be the most realistic dolls ever. They are a new assortment of cute, cuddly, breathing babies and some people are concerned that they might be just a little too authentic and lifelike. The term “reborn” is used to make a distinction between these custom made baby dolls and those bulk-produced in a factory. Reborn babies have been called fake babies and they are the ultimate in exclusive baby dolls.

My Sissy Sharon

Published by charray7 under Life Edit This

 sharon_and_char-2006smaller.jpg

Today I spent the day with my sissy SharonLynn and my hubby Brian. Well, maybe I ought to explain that. Sharon is actually Brian’s sister, but we have been as close as sisters can be since we first met so I call her my sissy. Smile

Sharon lives in Florida and has brain cancer among other things.  She first found out she had brain cancer about 9 years ago and has fought like a dog to stay alive and active since then. She has outlived the doctor’s predictions who said at the time she was diagnosed that she wouldn’t live more than a few years since the tumor was inoperable. I have to admit that she’s had her ups and downs and there were some scary times during these past few years that we thought she wouldn’t make it, but she’s always jumped back and fought hard.

We don’t get to see each other that often since Sharon lives in Florida and I live in Illinois so it’s always a treat when she gets the great idea to drive up to see us. Yes, she surprised us again this time.  About a week ago, she had pins put in both of her legs because the bone in her legs is not working right. She still had the determination to drive all the way up here to see us.

We spent the day visiting the local antique store and wandering around the mall. Sharon bought me three charms that say “I love dogs” and “dog lover” on them to put on my cell phone. I’ll treasure them forever. She loves cats and I love dogs so we had to stop at Love at First Sight and visit the kittens and pups. Of course, as usual, Sharon found two sweet white kittens she wanted to take home with her and I found a cute little black terrier puppy that I just knew loved me. Smile  But since she has to drive all the way back to Florida and I sure don’t need another dog, we had to leave them there for someone else to adopt. Cry Hopefully someone else will adopt them soon.

We ended our day at the new Asian-Chinese buffet in town. It was really good, but of course now I’m miserable because I ate too much.

It was so nice to spend time with Sharon. She wanted to come over next weekend on Halloween, our favorite holiday, but because I had some plans that might happen, she came this weekend. We always have such a great time together and are thick as thieves that sometimes it ticks Brian off because we pick on him. But he manages. lol

Snoring Might Be Dangerous to Your Life

Published by charray7 under Health Edit This

Many years ago, whenever I used to sleep, my husband said that the house would rumble like an earthquake. My snoring, he said, was just horrible. Of course, I didn’t think I snored and I thought he was full of bologna. About four years ago, I kept falling asleep during the day at my computer. I was always tired and would always take a nap in the afternoon but even that wouldn’t help my sleepiness. I talked to my physician about my tiredness and about how I always would fall asleep and he thought I might want to do a sleep test. I said sure, why not. After all, it couldn’t hurt. I spent a night at the hospital with wires hooked to me and people watching me sleep. Afterward they brought me this strange contraption they called a CPAP mask and told me to try to sleep with it on. When I put it on my face, air rushed into my nose. It was a little unnerving at first but I got used to it. After about a week I got my test results back and I had been diagnosed with sleep apnea.

Barack Obama - a Political Portrait

Published by charray7 under Politics Edit This

There is no one in the United States that can reject the idea that Barack Obama is a new gust of wind blowing through the political scene. He is a mixed-race nominee in a nation where every President has been a Caucasian European. While most past Presidents have had a tendency to be on the mature side, he is youthful. He has the benefit of familiarity in foreign countries, a collage of societies and places in his personal history. He has the capability of fitting in everywhere, relate with anyone, and associate with both sides across nearly any abyss. Therefore, what sort of President is Barack Obama going to turn out to be?

Hello Everyone!

Published by charray7 under Life Edit This

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

That sentence has been my motto for a long time and tells a lot about me. I like to live for today and enjoy each day as much as I can.  I try not to worry about what happened in the past and go forward because each day is a new day. You never know what is going to happen in the future or how much time you have left on this earth. I try to treat each day like it is my last. It doesn’t always work, but I sure try.  :-)

This is my first post in my new blog. I hope to write about my life, write articles that I feel are important or interesting and sometimes just pour my heart out.

I hope to keep it interesting and provide good information to my readers. Each day will be new and different.

So, see you tomorrow.

Char :-) Just Me
